Powdergraphy shows the tracks and movements of skiers and snowboarders in snow. Lines, curves, shadows and clouds of powder form clear graphic structures. Five black-and-white works and one colour work show different moments of movement in the alpine landscape.
Between two Shadows
A skier traces a line across a sunlit snowfield. Jagged shadows reach down from the ridge, while the slope beyond lies in blue. From the Powdergraphy series.
Out of the Void
A lone figure emerges from the wide expanse of snow. Swirling powder traces the movement and briefly lifts the figure from the almost white image.
Signature Curve
A skier makes a turn through untouched snow. The track remains as the only curve on the slope.
Compression
Two dense clouds of snow rise behind the skier, formed by two successive turns. For a brief moment, both are visible at once, compressing the movement into a small space.
Burst
Behind a ridge, a cloud of snow bursts into the backlight. Individual chunks stand out against the dark sky, while the rider remains hidden in the cloud. Wind-shaped snow lies in the foreground.
Diagonal Drop
The rider crosses the steep slope, throwing up a broad plume of powder. The diagonal between bright snow and deep shadow defines the image and strengthens the sense of speed and steepness.
