Alpine Presence Flims

Upper Segnesboden, early morning. A small lake almost perfectly reflects the sky and peaks. Soon afterwards, light and wind change the scene.

Lake Cresta, Trin. Morning mist lies over the lake. Autumn colours remain in the forest, while the mountains above already carry snow.

Lake Cresta, autumn. On a windless autumn day, the lake is seen from above. Golden trees line the shore, while clouds and forest are reflected in the dark water.

Tschingelhörner, morning light. The first sunbeams reach the peaks while the surrounding slopes remain in shadow. For a few minutes, ridges, layers and rock edges stand out with particular clarity.

Trin, autumn morning. Ground mist rises from the valley and drifts between meadows and trees. Autumn light reaches only scattered areas before the mist closes over the landscape again.

Atlas, UNESCO Sardona, Flims. A network of streams crosses the lower Segnesboden. Meltwater and erosion have shaped these lines over a long period and continue to change them today.

Piz Fess, sunrise. The first light reaches the ridge while the rock faces remain in shadow. For a few minutes, a narrow rim of light separates the mountain from the bright morning sky.

Masegn, Flims. Evening light falls beneath the cloud cover, colouring snow and sky for a few minutes. Then the light closes again.

Flims forest. Snow transforms each spruce into a sculptural form. Light and shadow shape the forest into a quiet architecture whose perfection often lasts only a few hours.

Flims forest. A single house appears between snow-covered spruces. Seen from above, it loses its significance as a building and becomes part of a quiet landscape of lines, shapes and snow.

Lake Cauma. Seen from above, the island becomes the still centre of a winter landscape. Water, snow and forest briefly find a balance that transforms the familiar place into an image of complete stillness.

Martinsloch. Snow, rock and sky reduce the landscape to its basic forms. The Martinsloch becomes part of a quiet composition rather than a landmark.

Lake Cauma, 8:45 am. Fresh snow forms soft lines, and the first sunlight makes the lake glow. For a short time, water, light and winter are in perfect balance before the first tracks change the morning.

Weisse Arena, 5:45 pm. Quiet returns after the lifts close. The last light settles over snow and ridge, and the human figure becomes part of the landscape. For a few minutes, space, stillness and light reach a perfect balance.
